Starting Problems

Featured Replies

Hi,

Has anybody got any ideas why I might be having some starting problems with my Octavia PD 140?

For the past couple of weeks the engine would sometimes cut out on starting. On the second attempt it would then start OK. The first time I noticed this was when the car had been sat for a week following a holiday.

Tonight it just kept cutting out until I revved the engine and then it started. I did notice that the fan came on straight away. Once the engine was on it ran fine. There were no warning lights illuminated on the dash board except those normally displayed on ignition.

I'm not at all technical but wondered if it was maybe the battery, glow plugs, starter motor or the coolant temperature sensor (hence the fan starting).

Thanks for your help.

Im currently trying to cure my starting problems, its on the warm start only though.

When cold, it fires instantly, when its warm it takes ages and sometimes does'nt start at all

Its really embarassing when it wont start :o

Local Skoda dealer says keep your eye on it, its fine when we do it, which is bullshoot as it does it everytime from warm.

Im in tomorrow, for a headunit replacement, so will try again, but tbh I dont hold out much hope :(
