EPC and Traction Control Warning lights

Featured Replies

Both came on as I was cruising with cruise control ON in a 50mph zone.

The Engine stopped. I freewheeled to a halt and after stopping, restarted the car. It ran fine to continue my journey OK.

Does anyone know what that is all about?

Brake lights are coming on OK on braking.

Everything seems to work OK.

Just embarrassing plus wife doesn't want to go out in it now.

You will need to have the codes read, though don't rule out the the brake light switch. It could be a power supply fault for the ECU relay.

Thanks. Weird however as I just had the car serviced and scanned and service light code cleared. Seems I had better take it round there again.

I'd suspect the brake light switch. They're a common source of issues with cruise control, and with glowplug or EPC lights flashing.

This turned out to be poor quality brake disks

They were overheating and causing the ABS to shut down

We have now fitted decent OE (Original equipment) quality disks. We did this because of judder at only 20,000 miles on the poor qulity disks. In fact the garage said are you sure you want disks there is no wear.

I said they a poor ly made things. Put on the OE quality ones.

Since then no issues with ABS warning light

Hooray.

Moral - always fit OE quality parts
