Referring to the MK I VRS, which is only available with a 180hp, 1.8 litre petrol engine.

A plastic clip on the window winder regualtor can break, resulting in the window falling down into the door, a new regualtor is aroung £60 plus fitting.

Engine mounting bolts snapping - not at all common.

The MK I is a completely different car to the MK II.

The coil packs have undergone many revisions to make them better, hopefully all the older ones would have been replaced by now, they cost around £25 + VAT and there are 4 per car.

The car comes as standard with driver and passenger airbags.

I've owned 2 vRS's and have never had a window fall out or any engine bolts snap.

I had my Mk1 for over 60000 miles and only ever had one coil pack go, never come across an issue with engine bolts

Mk2 is very different to MK1 as it is based on a completly different platform, but from a visual viewpoint MK1 has a squarer front end and a more 'nose down' look when viewed from the side, Mk2 is 'curvier'

I have heard of only one occasion on here where an engine bolt snapped that was after a new timing belt was fitted.
