Strange nodule?

Featured Replies

On my new Elegance there is a black protruding button-like protrusion on the top centre of the dash a few inches from the windscreen. I thought it was a push button for something and didn't dare to press it in case something dropped off. (LOL) I can't find any reference to it in the instruction book, so I tried it and it seems to be solid. Anyone know what it is please. I'm no expert, just a driver of a lovely motor car. Thanks.:rolleyes:

I think it might be a sensor for the climate control, at least that what I've always thought it was.

it is just a trim piece to hide the edges of the two air vent slats, nothing more. Why it has a lump in it I have no idea.

The climate control sensor is a little round dot in the middle circle of the three climate control rings (with the air speed contol dial).

I've never seen the octavia dash, but my audi had a temp sensor as descreibed by the controls, and the bump on top of the dash was a sunlight sensor for the CC. It altered the output in sunlight.

It is a sunlight sensor for the climate control.

It is a sunlight sensor for the climate control.

:woohoo: I was right! :cool::D

Thank you all for the answer.

Cool thats answered my thoughts too :thumbup:

The Climate Control apparatus for the Skoda Octavia II includes a sunlight sensor fitted into the dashboard top. The sunlight sensor is integrally formed with a filter and a Fresnel lens. When an elevation angle of sunlight is low, an inadequate correction of the sunlight amount is prevented by the Fresnel lens. However, when sunlight enters the vehicle more directly, detected sunlight amounts are fed to the CC system and the cooling effect/fan speed and direction are adjusted. The sunlight sensor coupled with the temperature sensor in the headlining, and the sensor behind the fan speed control work together to make the occupants of the vehicle feel as comfortable as possible.
