Used my Octavia Elegance with the back seats folded for the 1st time yesterday. I noticed that when I selected reverse the boot lights came on.

Is this normal and if it is normal then what $$$$ing use could it ever be? :confused:

i believe its something that can be enabled or disabled with vag com.

Ah! Now there's a possibility. I was in a gloomy underground car park so it would show I guess. But is there a way for it to shine through? There was nothing there from the tail lights and I didn't notice it get any brighter when I braked.

My reversing lights shine through from the rear light cluster so I think that's probably your explanation. Had a hatch and an estate and its the same in both. I think increased boot/light cluster light protection is one of the things (along with damped grab handles) that you pay the extra £10k for if you get an A3!

no, but you said when you open the boot do the reverse lights come on. and then go on to say but why? ive answered because they might be getting shopping out of the boot and want the area around them illuminated.

i just see people walking out in front of you when you start reversing.

If I back into the garage turning on the reversing lights when I open the boot makes perfect sense to me. Can it be taught to also turn on the front fogs? I don't need lighting for a photo studio, just to see where I'm walking.

dont think so but that is what leaving/coming home lights are for
