y reg and rust warranty?

Featured Replies

I'm assuming this won't be covered by any corrosion warranty. I found this when cleaning the car. Will it be covered or not? It's just in front of the driver rear wheel.

thanks taxi 219

Also looks like the sill is actually damaged to the rear of the corrosion.

IIRC, the warranty is an anti-perforation warranty, and that isn't perforated. Quite apart from whether they'd argue that it was due to damage. Sorry :(

On the plus side, that doesn't (from the photo) look like it's beyond a cheap(ish) reapir :)

If it's the driver's door then it looks like it's to the front of the damage :P

(Sorry, don't get the oppotrunity to correct Lummox very often :P See sensible post above^^)

10 years on the Octy the warranty on body

But they can tell if it is due to damage

You could probably tidy that up easily enough yourself if you are good at DIY. I have always done rust jobs on my older cars. Sand it right down - back to bare shiny metal. If you go through the sill you will have to get it welded. I have never had this happen, even on my sisters 13 year old fiesta.

Once back to bare metal, coat it quite generously with metal oxide or similar. Once thoroughly dry I would put some underbody sealer on it to help protect further considering its the sill. Once that is dry covering the cars normal colour paint, and again once dry put some lacquer on it - as good as new.

Jack slipped?

I know its not the same but a work colleague had her R reg golf done under warranty recently - surprised me

what are VAG like with there repairs as i have some small rust bubles on the boot lid which i could repair but if i could get someone whos actually good at repairs it would be a lot better.

I'd ask and if they say no they say no. If they say yes bonus.
