MAF died. What is the best place for a new one

Featured Replies

Hi fellas,

My MAF died last week. I washed it, put back and it was fine for about 20 minutes.

I was thinking of buying a bosch MAF that should be the same as VAG OEM at GSF.

Has anyone got some experience with non main dealer MAFs?

Cheers

Is there any difference between the main stealer one which is vag oem ( bosch) for aprox 100 quid and the one from GSF car parts which is genuine Bosch priced at around 60 quid with freedom discount.

I used to buy lots of stuff from gsf but never electronic sensors etc, that's why i am a bit scared :(.

If you get the bosch one from GSF it is the same part, however the dealer was actually cheaper last i looked.

The "generic" ones some factor sell are sh*te.

The dealers should be doing a MAF for £65 on exchange for your old one.

I had a new one plus fitting for about £70 a year ago at a Dealers. If I'm allowed to I'll mention them, Preston Motors in Forest Gate, East London. I've never felt ripped off by them, and their prices seem similar to GSF with only a labour charge on top + the luxury of a warranty on the work should it expire again. Oh, and I keep my hands clean.

I know some people consider it sacrilege not to DIY everything, and before kids I used to do that too, but Dealers - good ones anyway, can save time and hassle.

There are no restrictions on mentioning dealers and it is useful to know who the good ones are. Use the Reviews section here to post first-hand feedback on individual dealers if appropriate.
