Should I polish my new car

Featured Replies

Turns out my car was delivered in good nick! After reading various things here I was half expecting to have to book in with baker21, but don't think that is needed now

No swirls to speak of, car was decently waxed, alloys cleaned and sealed too

So wax could do with a top up and I have the collinite 476s ready to go, but would you bther with a light hand polish First or not? I'm an autoglym SRP + EGP fan but that feels a bit ott

What do you all think?

Everything is in the preperation.

I'd suggest either the Megs stage 1 and stage 2 products followed by a couple of layers of the colli or something like klasse AIO cleaner/polish/sealant in one and when it has cured a couple of coats of colli.

If you have the SRP it will be fine, but less is more as if it goes on too thick it gets very dusty.

Glad your happy with the car mate, got any pics?

Agree with cheezemonkhai here, I think either Klasse AIO or Zaino AIO would work well here and some decent wax will protect it...........

You checked for damage under a halogen lamp?

a halogen lamp? is this to spot all the swirls?

I get my new car next week too i'm worried about swirls and stuff:(

Its a dark colour too.

I do like SRP & EGP. Very easy to use and good protection.

Sure is mate, shows them up a treat or if your lucky to get one then you can use a Brinkmann.......

Yeah I think sunlight does a good job too!

I guess if you are doing a full detail then using halogens will show the full extent of any damage, but sunlight seems to show a lot up particularly if you go around the car looking at the paint work from different angles

I was really not asking about what/how to polish, but assuming paintwprk is in good nick is there any real point or is a top up wax enough?

Doesn't look like I will get chance this weekend judging by the weather though! I have to do all my cleaning outside

Yeah sunlight does work, just means you have to move the car to get the sun on it in the areas you want as opposed to moving a lamp...........:P

Welcome anytime to pop over mate and make use of my gazebo and waxes.......
