ghost radio had to go!!!!!

Featured Replies

the radio i got with my pickup didnt work at first. i took it out refitted it and away she went. next day stopped working again and then only worked when it took a notion.....work 4 an hour cut off for a week, work 4 20mins cut off again. just worked at random times 4 random periods.

so my m8 gives me a radio out of his vw golf. plugged it straight in and wht u no........doesnt work. unit 99% good enuff but just doesnt seem to be getting power. old one always gets power and lites up just no sound. this unit wont turn on at all. key position has no effect on power.

I'd start by taking out the stereo and using a multimeter at the plug to test for voltage. If there is no voltage then the problem is somewhere at the car's end.

yep....ther is power coming to plug.

this unit is one that has 3 plugs. third one being for a data panel in the golf. (time temp etc)

does ther hav to be a live link between this third plug to power up the unit???????

Might be that it's only designed to be used in a Golf? There will probably be 2 glass fuses in the stereo's loom. Have you checked these?

It could also be that it is expecting an ignition switched positive that the Felicia doesn't have, but can be easily wired in - the orange and red wires may need to be swapped on the stereo's wiring loom.

food 4 thot anewman i,ll get back with results.

.....mmm switched live? that goes from the loom to the ______:confused:

Key position won't have any effect as the radio is always powered or should be.

I cheated a little though. I paid to have mine fitted.
