Fitted Forge SplitR dv

Featured Replies

I fitted my dump valve today

It was easy peasy, you just unclip the pipes leading into the orignal

Take the old one out (look at the size difference)

The new one just easily slips in...Ahem

I used a zip tie for the smaller of the hoses that fits on top and jubilee clips for the bigger two

Looks much better and sounds really good

I thought i was going to have an issue with the engine lights coming on but it hasnt yet as iv read this can happen

Also thought it was going to be a tight fit but it wasnt

Took 20mins!!

Engine light will not come on if you set it up properly. Mine was fine.

another vote from me, mine has been on 4 months now without any problems, although i think i need to adjust it again because its gona a bit quiet

Got one on mine but got it fully atmospheric at mo. anyone have any ideas if this is gna cause me a problem? i originally had it as design intended but was quiet as a mouse. If someone could let is know how many they adjusted it by would be grateful. Standaqrd car as of yet in need of remap doesn't feel like 180bhp.

Have you got a Forge Splitr dv aswel then,i havnt tried it on full atmospheric yet, dont know if i should or not because of engine lights

It is a bit quiet out of the box i must admit

Hi, i have recently fitted the same Forge SplitR dv to my mk1 octy vrs. I know i have fitted it correctly but after a short run the Engine Management Light came on and has stayed on!

I have checked several times all the pipes are fitted correctly and nice and tight, dv seems to work ok and i realise you can adjust it via turning the top. Anybody know how many clicks clockwise/anti-clockwise is the best set-up???? If you have this dv i'm sure you will know what i mean.

I have fitted the split-r before a remap and induction kit.....result quiet.

Then fitted induction kit result ...louder

Then had it remaped result ......much louder.

Then fitted stainless steel cold air feed result..... car grawls and dumps insainly loud and echos / chatters a little.

Although i want it to chatter more as i have heard mk4 golfs on you tube... he claims he is running stardard dump valve and a induction kit????

I was uncertain about getting it mapped but i thought i would in the end.

Totally transformed the car in to a real turbo!!!!

iirc it isnt the engine light that comes on its the traction cont light and the car goes into limp mode were there is no power and the car only works under 2000rpm.

i think its not the engine light, on fully atmo it will be ok so long as it dumps cleanley, on the od ocasion it wil open then try to accel and thats when it breaks, jus pull over switch off then, then start again. all fine.

with a CAI on and the std bosch valve there is still a nice noise jus not loud. with a 007p or the bailey it is bit crisper and louder but still descreet.

Does the engine cover still fit on ok over the top of it or is it too big?

Engine cover will fit straight back on no problem as theres plenty of clearance, you can even get your fingers in to adjust top of dv with the engine cover still on.

I'm still none the wiser on how many turns clockwise/anti-clockwise is the best set-up for the dv and still have engine management light on:thumbdwn:

Anyone got a forge splitr dv on there mk1 octy vrs?

If so please help!!!!:(

check vag-com to see what the prob is mate, someone near you might have it. if might not be to do with the DV....

I had an atmo bailey on and only had 2 misshaps were the engine said I DONT LIKE THAT.

both times it was fine after few seconds with ignition off.

Might not be dv but it's abit strange how the Engine Management Light only came on after i fitted it.

I have fitted it exactly right on Hybrid mode so it's Atmospheric and Re-circulating and according to Forge there is no chance of the Engine Light coming on when using this dv!

Still need some advice on setting it up, do i have the spring loose or tight? how many clicks/turns clockwise/anti-clockwise have other users of this dv turned the top for the best set-up???

The instructions for the Split-R give you a starting point for fine tuning. I think it's something like, "turn the top of the valve completely until it stops, then two turns in the opposite direction" (You would need to check that). I found that this position worked perfectly on my vRS, with no fine tuning required.

I have just read instructions again and basically all it says is each user will have to adjust there valve to suit there vehicle. It gives no indication of the best set-up for my specific car.

I guess i will just have to try and fine tune it myself but the problem is i have no knowledge of how it should sound???

If I remember correctly they come with a blanking plate to make them 100% recirculating so you could set it to that in the meantime while you're looking for a solution?

Ok, i have decided to turn the top fully clockwise to tighten the spring and gradually turn it back anti-clockwise until i think the dv's spring is set-up best for my car.

Does anyone think this is a good/bad idea to try and set-up the dv

Also i'm just gunna keep my fingers crossed that it may affect the Engine Management and turn that dam orange bloody light off:mad:

I am still wanting any info or advice anyone may have on the Forge Splitr dv and how to set it up best (via top adjuster) for the mk1 Octy Vrs.

Also anyone else fitted this dv and had Engine Management Light come on???

I would turn it anti clockwise to take the pressure off the spring, then gradually tighten it. You can do damage if the valve doesn't open.

ok wil try it anti-clockwise first then gradually tighten it clockwise after each journey and see what happens.

why don't you pm forge and ask?

i turned mine 6 clicks and no probs, feels right :D lovely sound with CAI

Sorry guys but i never knew you can turn the top of the valve clockwise or anti clockwise

I fitted mine as it was straight out of the box, engine light not come on once since having it on

Does adjusting it make it louder/Quieter?

think you can adjust the spring so it keeps boost preasure better and also change which hole the air comes out of, obv that is the one that makes it louder.
