Stage 2 with standard airbox?

Featured Replies

Is it possible to have Stage 2 software and all relevant other mods [downpipe etc], but keep standard airbox, smoothed, upgraded panel filter and caf, or is induction kit a necessity?

Cheers, Kev....:)

Also is anyone running a Turbosmart dual-port diverter valve with standard box?

from what ive been told from tunning companies the standard airbox is the best you can do? and thats people like backdraft motorsport and jbs and such . even with the bigger turbo upgrades i was being told to go back to the oe box , just with a good panel filter.

ive got a stage 2 apr upgrade and the only thing that came up was heatsoak? front mount intercooler and job done lol :orb_raisi

well eddy had a reliable 460bhp with a standard airbox :)

I did logs with vag-com on the MAF. Standard box with standard filter against a CAI from ebay. Results were practically the same but the standard setup just got a tiny bit of extra air through.

If it weren't for the sweet induction noise and the pssst i would be back to standard.

same here mate, gotta love that induction noise ooooo :orb_blow_

My previous VRS sucked a hump in the standard filter, kind of told me something so I fitted a K&N 57i kit, worth it just for the noise! Just a thought, ring the companies up under pretence of wanting to fit a CAI and they will all tell you its a wonderfull upgrade! lol, I always fit them, power increase or not for £100 its not worth thinking about that much.

what exactly is envolved sucking said hump? are similar to Ferfie's humps that get mentioned in the black eyed peas song? if so can i go next? :D

Seriously, it's a high to low pressure differential across the standard panel filter causing the panel to bend and stay bent.

Makes you think twice about forking out money on an induction kit...

i didn't really have a choice, jim fitted a £2-300 intake and then added it to the final bill after being told in person the build was on a project but went ahead with what he wanted anyway, gotta love a tuner! :thumbdwn:
