Aircon part crisis

Featured Replies

Hi all,

A cry for help!

We have an 03 Octavia L&K Tdi which last year lost its aircon gas.

Skoda dealer traced it to a broken clamp on the evaporation valve. The clamp is on the cabin side of the valve and holds the two pipes by their swaged ends, trapping the seals to the block. Dealer claimed that Skoda won't supply the clamp by itself, and it has no number!

Summer has come again. Aircon specialist can't get one. I'm currently trying breakers etc. Has anyone got one or knows where there might be one.

Wife getting glum in the heat!

What about the whole valve from a breakers or even new. I can't see the valve being that expensive surely?

Cheezemonkhai,

Thanks for replying.

Main dealers sell it as part of the 'pipe set' which includes the matrix inside the heater. If I remember rightly is comes to £380 odd.

Breakers won't separate it from the pipework, presumably because they know you can't get the clamp separately. I've rung a few and they can't help.

I may end up buying more metal than I want then scrapping it or maybe make one up.

The original is a cheap crystalline casting, I'd mill one from something more durable.

Tim

There is an octavia breaking in the for sale and lots on ebay. Keep going, a well crashed one they won't care about. Get it from a breaker.

Post an ad in the wanted section too.

Greg.
