Buying 17" alloys - which tyres?

Featured Replies

I've decided to buy a set of 17" TSW Zenon alloys for my Fabia vRS...can anyone give me a few suggestions for the type of tyre that I should buy along with the alloys? Need something that works well in both the dry and wet. I'm quite pleased with the Continentals I have at the minute - maybe I should go for the same tyre again or is there anything better out there?

I fitted Toyo Proxes to mine in 205/40/17 fitment - these are superb tyres with loads of grip, they wear quicker than others but cost less to begin with. Some people have complained about wet weather grip but I have had no issues

Other than that I would consider Goodyear F1's

Had Toyos, very good, only lasted 9,000 miles on mine though...opps.

Running two Uniroyals and two Pirrelli P7000's. Will probably continue using the Uniroyals tbh, seem pretty good and quiet compared with the Toyos.

You need 205/40 17's btw.

Aye toyo's rock in a very real and special way....

What??? the toyo's specialty is wet weather grip, in my experience anyway both the R610 toyo's I had on my old 106 and the proxies I've got on my s40 are awesome.

After all that, it appears I can't get TSW Zenon alloys for the vRS...despite Goodyear's website suggesting that it was possible.

That's a useful site for finding out how the alloys will look on your car - whether or not you can get them appears to be a different thing entirely. Useful all the same though.
