1.4MPI confusion:

Featured Replies

Right.

Fabia 1.4mpi, Classic trim.

Some places say it's insurance group 2, tax band E.

Some places are saying its group 4, tax band D.

Which is right?!!!

(Apologies if this has been asked before - i couldn't find anything on search :( )

My old Fabia estate 1.4 mpi was ins group 2 and now costs £170 a year to tax (not sure what group that is.)

i think it depends on when the car was made mine is an x reg pre 2001 and its £115 to tax for 12 months and its group 2, im guessing after is the other 2001 cars i dont kno tho!

my 2001 1.4 was in the cheaper tax band... dont ask me what that is though. And my insurance went down by about a tenner a month from a 1998 1.6 Megane.

Might help you a little? I can tell you they are amazing on petrol though - Lissy just keeps going can do nearly 400miles on a tank and costs me about £36 from empty to full.

Hi,

I've recently been looking at car data re:insurance groupings, road tax etc and found the following site very informative.

Road tax - Parker's]

Brief information about road tax from the above link states:

From 1st March 2001 the annual car tax (or Vehicle Excise Duty - VED) rates are determined by CO2 emissions and type of fuel used. This information is on the car’s log book - also called a V5 document.

If your car was registered before the 1st March 2001 then car tax is based only on the engine size, with one rate for engine sizes up to and including 1549cc and one for engines over 1549cc

Hope this helps?

ahh thats why mine is cheaper then, because its based on a 1.4 and not on emmisions, crikey i can only do 350 miles on a tank!
