N95 Exchange Server Cetificates problem.

Featured Replies

Hopefully someone else has had this problem!

When using OWA for Exchange for the first time on a PC I got the This certificate is not trusted page, download it stick it in the right folder and all is fine.

Just got an N95 and installed Mail for Exchange on it to sync with the exchange server at work and get push email, at the minute i'm getting the this site has an untrusted certificate continue anyway message. I've downloaded the certificate from the server and sent it to the phone but it's an un-recognised format.

Has anyone ever done this and can point me in the right direction?

Cheers!

1) It sounds like you are using a self-signed certificate rather than a commercial one bought from someone like verisign.

The PCs don't have a path back to a trusted certification authority , hence the message.

You can use Group Policy to add that certificate to their list of trusted ones. This won't work if you use non-domain machines so the only option would be to get a commercial certificate (or ignore the error).

2) you can export the cert in a number of formats - I can't remember which one is needed but try them all.

you need a "proper" certificate as Dr Z says.

I had a similar problem...

theres a special format required to put certs on symbian devices.. hang on think ive got a document about it somewhere.. does really boil down to requiring a "proper" cert though. there is a chance you will be able to use certificate services on your enterprise to generate one manually though.

Edit.. try this:

To be honest, it's generally much easier to get a proper cert IME

Had tried all ways to get the phone to accept the certificate then this link seemed to work! Then it told me the certificate was not from a trusted source :( Had a look on the Verisign site and it looks like it's about £200 a year for a certificate, seeing as we are all supposed to have push email it looks like the bosses will have to spend some money.

But then again all of the laptops and WM6 based devices just work with the same certificate and there are only two of us with N95s, I may be mistaken and the bosses won't spend the money :(

Tried for ages to get this to work without success, got bored and just synched manually whenever I remembered! Installed emoze tonight which has two benefits over Nokia Mail for Exchange:

One, it doesn't care that the certificate is untrusted

Two, you can turn the alarm off for all calender entries

So push email is now working on my N95!
