sunlight affecting central locking

Featured Replies

Hi all I know i shouldnt complain but with all the hot weather that we have been having this last couple of weeks ,my central locking is playing up.In the work carpark my passenger side gets the sunlight on it all day and when I drive home the locking is going haywire, the solenoid is going all the time and the locks coming on and off but only on that side.I have had all the cards off previously as I know there is a problem with water getting in so have cleaned all the contacts and waterproof taped all the wires and plugs.has anybody else had a problem with heat affecting the CL and if so, do any of you have any ideas to cure this?thanks in anticipation.

This is a new one on me.

Your car is exposed to sunlight all the time so erm...i dont know

Anyone else?

Temps regularly 46+ deg C here - posted some pics with 51 deg C indicated. No central locking probs at all.

? corroded connectors perhaps - expanding with the temp change? You could try another clean using fine sandpaper, electronics cleaner spray and seal with dielectric silicon grease.

Sounds strange, good luck
