ASR / ESP light on dash

Featured Replies

Is there a usual reason this light comes on and stays on when driving along normally?

Its a 54 plate VRS.

Cheers.

daft question, have you switched it off?

daft question, have you switched it off?

I thought that it defaulted to enabled after a restart - I could be wrong (again).

Must admit I thought it reset itself too, but not 100% - on the A2 I had as a courtesy car it did for sure.

Yeh on the Furby vRS its on by default, and when you restart the car it will always be turned on, so that would display no warning indicator.

If you have a light up there is a fault, needs a diagnostic check.

also have you got the same size tyres and wheels all round ?

but definatly get a diagnostic done

sounds to me to be a fault, either go to the garage or preferbly get someone to look at it with vag com in case its something easy enough to sort out (and save you garage money).

No its not turned off lol.

All the tyres and wheels are the same size.

It comes on and goes off like it should. I can even turn it on and off. Then about 10 mins into the journey it will come on. Although it did go out again after a couple of minutes this morning.

sigh.

I'll get a mate to stick it on vag com and have a look what codes pop up.

Hiya guys. I have a 2001 Skoda Fabia Elegance. The ASR system has never worked on the car since I bought it in 2007. I just paid £39.60 at Dutton Forshaw for diagnostic work for them to turn round and say that they were unable to find a fault and demand a further £79.00 for another hours labour. They were however able to tell me that the fault lies either with the wiring loom or the ECU.

I really dont like the lousy service at this garage, the engineer told me that it could be a problem with the fibre optic connection between the ECU and other components. This sounds like a load of crap to me.

Anybody have any Ideas?

Many Thanks

Tim.

Not completely impossible, but I'd be amazed if Skoda had started using fibre optics links - I'd just wait to be amazed then! Fibre optics is lovely stuff for noise immunity though - but just remember not to bend it too far and keep these ends clean!
