Osram Nightbreakers +90%

Featured Replies

As I was converting the headlights back from the continental setting I noticed a blister/bubble in the glass adjacent to the filament on both bulbs. They have only had 15 hours use. E-mailed Osram, predictably no reply. They still work but do not seem as bright.

Anyone else experienced this?

Not good - I guess it is the blue filter overheating and blistering off. I'll check mine next time. Mine have probably had on a few hours use - but bad news if its a general problem.

An excuse to switch to Philips Extreme though...

Just realised they are in your dip beam not mains. I wonder if the projector enclosure is causing them to run hot? Mine are the H1 mains.

Its not the filter its the actual glass!

Do you mean the headlamp glass itself?

To clarify, its the glass of the bulb but not the filter coating applied to the bulb's glass. It's not the lens of the of headlight housing.

Phew; thought you were referring to the headlamp unit at first.

If it is the bulb that's looking iffy, I would suggest a clear case for a 'warranty replacement'. See if you can e-mail some pics to Osram.

I've just bought some Phillips Extremes for my Roomster; having read some tests on these they seem as good as Osrams but the Nightbreakers were reported to be "inconsistent in their results" - perhaps Osram have some quality control issues?

I had a set of Nightbreakers go and emailed Osram UK and they replaced them. Took longer than I would havg liked for the replacements to arrive but their emails were very prompt and professional

Hi Nathanio do you have the E-mail address you used, the one I found was in Germany?

I'll have a dig through my emails

Never like Oscram myself, but never had a problem with Philips.

I've had several failures of each brand but have had better results with Osrams than Philips
