VW Ipod Adaper

Featured Replies

Hey guys, just installed a VW ipod adapter (1K0 051 444) into my 04' Octavia 1.8T today, i have the Symphony single cd radio, was a piece of cake to install, and have the cable coming into the cubby under the radio so the ipod is semi hidden but still easy to reach (as the song playing is displayed on the ipod) I didnt have a cd changer fitted so didnt loose that, its nice and easy to use, cd 1-5 are assigned to playlists on your ipod (if you have any) and cd6 is all the songs on your ipod.

I decided to go with this kit as our local dealer didnt know if skoda did an official kit but sold heaps of the vw ones (combined vw/audi/skoda dealer)

it was a little more expensive than an aftermarket kit from what i can tell looking online, but here in nz the local car stereo shops arnt much help when it comes to accessorys for euro cars!

Just like the fact i retain my factory radio, steering wheel controls etc, and an added bonus was finding the radio has preouts (just need to make a lead up) so i can install an amp to power a sub which i plan to install in the boot floor behind the spare wheel, that combined with the Alpine E type components i installed in my front doors (which were pretty much a direct replacement - just had to slightly modify the tweeter mount) i should have a nice sounding system.

Hope this helps anyone who might be wondering what works and what doesnt :)

P.S does skoda do a kit?? if so any P/n's? for curiositys sake haha

Sounds good, well done.
