Featured Replies

Hi All,

Thanks for your previous response to engine oil consumption thread.

(it is 2.0t, 2006 model, 100,000KM driven, 200ps, station wagon )

Could you people also tell me. when timing belt need replacement?. My seller says it was third time serviced at 80,000KM and need timing belt replacement at 120,000KM, when the fourth service will be due.Is it true? And how much it cost?

Why don't you check the car's manual ? It has plenty of info in it :)

Or search the forum, there are several threads on this topic.

replacement at 120.000 km (vRS petrol)

he might not have one, they do get misplaced especially if buying used.

Plus the manual isnt usually the most upto date. For example the MK1 octy vRS, if you went by the manual would have gone 110K miles before a cambelt change. Due to issues of belt failure VAG changed it to 60K miles/4 years, but the manual will still say 110K miles.

For the UK market the belt change is recommended at 60K miles (96,000 kms) or 4 years whichever occurs first for most if not all engines.
