Boot Button does not work

Featured Replies

Hi all just wondering if anyone knows the solution to my problem or if they have had it also?

problem is that when my car is unlocked i cant open the boot with the button it seems to be an electrical button as it does not feel mechanical. i know the button used to work but now it does not :(

when i want to use my boot i have to open the door and pull the lever which gets annoying !

any help would be helpful thanks Craig

I guess its either a blown fuse or a solenoid fault. If you can locate the fuse and check that its not blown, otherwise a trip to the dealer will be needed to get the fault code read.

checked every fuse and they are all ok :( any other ideas.

ive recently been hooked up to the diagnostic machine and no faults :(

Take comfort in the fact that mine is the same. I think it is the result of a common fault with the rear windscreen washer pipe. These have a tendancy to leak allowing water into the boot micro switch, knackering it. I keep meaning to replace mine but not got round to it. Fairly easy to access by removing the inner trim from the tailgate. The switch is held in place by just a couple of screws/bolts.

saying that i actually had a problem with my rear washed pipe the garage said it got disconnected and it was leaking below the car, maybe thats whats happened! Still im not too bothered i just dont ever use my boot - not that much room in there anyway what with the speakers and all

I had a problem with mine recently.

When you click the boot release button on the key fob can you hear movement?

If you look down inside the locking mechanism, you should be able to see a bit of white plastic that moves. This should be fixed to another piece of white platsic via a small coupling - the second piece pivots and triggers the release catch.

The fix was to undo a couple of trim screws IIRC, and then push a screwdriver up from the underside to re-connect the coupling.

That's not the best explanation - I'll have a look tmrw and maybe try to get a pic if you're still struggling and think this may be the problem.

I've seen them before where a wire has come off the switch (the bit that you press when you want to open it from the outside). Removal of the tailgate trim and 10 minutes with a soldering iron usually sorts it out.
