Hi guys and girls

I was having trouble with my old n75 so i decided to buy a new n75j but since having it fitted yesterday the car is pants lol. it seems to boost at around 1500rpm then backs off then boosts again at about 3500rpm instead of been continous and it does not feel as quick when you put your foot down and the mpg has dropped from around 37-40 mpg to around 29mpg and thats driving it steady.

has anyone else had anything like this or does anyone know what i should do?

the car in question is a mk1 '04' oct vrs with a panel filter, forge DV and a re-map.

cheers

Why are you suprised it isn't working properly....

Your car was built and mapped with a N75, not the N75J

You've (knowingly) fitted the wrong thing....

Steve:)

When you fitted it did you fit it as per old one or did you fit it by turning it 180' so the 2 vac pipes are reversed?

'J' valve is meant to be fitted in reverse.

I agree that these valves are not for all cars.

 Only 29

What was wrong with the old N75?

As Jay says should be fitted in reverse so that the electrical connector is facing the bulkhead iirc.

Loved mine, felt like it had lots more torque, sadly the rolling road broke it and caused it to overboost :(

some interesting replies lol. i fitted the n75j as i was recommended by someone from this car club who said they are the best ones to run on re mapped vrs. i know nothing about what these n75s do so i trusted what i was told. the standard n75 was sticking so i thought i would up rate it which perhaps i shouldnt of. im not sure how it was fitted as a garage who specialises in vw, skoda, seat and audi did it will have to speak to them tomorrow.

if its been fitted wrong or been the wrong n75 will it damage anything or will it just run pants?

cheers

N75f is the correct valve for this car, Remaps are setup to run on the F valve unless i suppose if it was live mapped to the J valve. Ideally you want the F valve but if the car is fine with the J valve then it great news. If it was fitted the wrong way round i think you would have very little boost pressure but it shouldn't damage the car, just get it checked soon and if you still have problems get the F valve.

As i said its easy to check just see if the connector is facing the bulkhead or the front of the car.

cheers for all you help, a quick update took it back to the garage today after only driving it miniminal since getting it back on friday and put a new but standard n75f on and the car is now back to normal. no more trying to be smart and doing something i dont know about lol.

the garage put it on the same way as the 'f' so thats why i had trouble as well as been re mapped on an f not a j.

Garages hey tut,tut
