Hot weather = rubbish....

....when it comes to performance and most of all, soot emissions.

Had to waste a annoying middle aged bloke in an Audi A6 yesterday as he was up my botty on a m'way slip road - managed it (his car wasn't slow - debadged but had the big twin pipes on the rear and I had the wife and in laws in the car too) but good god was there some soot as I gave it some welly. Proper 'bat-mobiled' his a55. :D

Got the pikey arch liner vent on there already along with the custom map - a PD160 and Green panel may be next on the agenda - and I need a new MAF to make sure it's running as it should.

Car goes so much better with sub 20 degree air. After a week of driving after cleaning it there was hardly anything on the tailpipe either. Since the weather went mental in the last few days that's all changed. Bring back winter LOL. :D

Agreed!

I've done the arch vent mod but it still feels sluggish in this 26 degree heat.

Yes mine was a pig last night.Love the damp cool air great performance:thumbup:

mines allways slow as fooooook:D

what is the arch vent mod ( silly man asking silly questions )

with the intercooler being side mounted,if you add a vent in the wheelarch it allows a little cool air in/out so in effect the intake temp islower, this is also known as pikey mod 1(or 2)

cheers mate, wasn't too sure as i dont own a vrs. interesting tho

You should try regular 46 deg C mate......

I notice that performance is down but some nice warm weather always puts MPG up :D

Not noticed any lack in performance either :)

But then, My car is an Octavia vRS :)

I have a forge fmic for sale

How much Skud??

Am thinking about getting a forge, or seat sport... seat sport being bigger, just cant bl00dy find one!

And are you selling pipework?

Pm me asap. Dave

Just a quick hint on filing up in hot weather...

Do it in the morning, when the fuel in the underground tanks is at its lowest.

That way, the fuel is denser per cubic inch, and you will get more fuel per £ !!!

Every penny counts.

Dave

I FULLY agree with the fact that the car is slower in hot weather. Today the trip was telling me 27 degrees (it's very very muggy down in the South East today) and the car felt a lot slower than usual! I'm hoping it's not just my car?!

I noticed it in my vRS... don't notice it in the GPS, but then the fiat comes with a FMIC :P

yeah mine is a bit naff too in the hot weather :(

Even with the map, it felt slow on the way home tonight - so humid. Windows kept steaming up. Stuck my hand out of the window for it to be pulled back in feeling damp!

Can't be good for performance that.....

Agreed!

With this mod how do you stop the tyres flicking mud, water and dirt up into the air vent.?

That sounds like an awesome idea... but cant think of how it would work.?

You got any pictures.?

Thanks

There's a few ways but the way I did mine was to purchase a B&Q aluminium vent for £5 and pop rivet it over some round holes I drilled into the arch liner. I then folded the vent flaps down a bit (they face the ground anyway) to minimise crud getting in. 6 months on, it's still spotless behind it. Just make sure you don't put it on upside down as all the cr4p will land on it downwards and go straight in.

I covered mine in waxoyl before fitting it, then sprayed it black and it's still the same colour as the arch liner - not intrusive.
