Tyres (again)

Featured Replies

I currently run Vredestein Ultrac on all 4 corners, and am happy with them, although they seem a bit noisy.

Unfortunately due to careful front / rear swopping all 4 will shortly need replacing at once.

I keep reading on here about Falken 452's, and as they are around £30 - £35 cheaper was considering them instead

Has anybody any idea how these compare in real life to the Vredestein?

I had falkens previously and only lasted for 10months:(

Got my tracking and wheels all laser aligned and found the wheels were not out.

Got some new toyos (cant remember the model no -just come out) and the tyres seem alot better that the falkens in terms of grip

Never tried Falkens, but I've just started using Goodyear eagle F1 assymetrics and OMG - they are awesome. Much quieter than the Toyo T1R's that I hated so much and leave them for dead in terms of grip. No idea how well they will last but I normally get screws and nails in tyres before they actually wear out anyway

Going down the M58 the other night on cruise control I could hear the induction kit sucking air - thats how much quiter they are, plus they are non directional so can be swapped around

I had a set of these on mine before i got the Goodyear F1 GDS3 fitted.Goodyears are good probably about the same level of grip but i don't think they wear as well as the Vredesteins as they lasted around 30k.

If i didn't have a few spare Goodyears i mat be tempted to buy another set of Vredesteins, even tho they cost a little more.

I have Falken 452s on the front and I'm not impressed - chirp too easily in the dry, not the best grip in the wet and one is making a noise and I think has gone out of round.

There are lots of people on here who like them though so maybe NZ versions are different compound and not as good?

Mine have been on for about 15,000 km and have a fair bit of tread left.

Meeh I like them found they have lasted me 24k so far on the front and still counting and they grip extremely well wet and dry.

I run the FK 452

Yep i have fakens 452's on the front which i'll be putting on the back when i get new tyres soon. They have been noisy from day one and i just cant get on with them, though they seem to grip ok.

If you want real good tyres then your gonna have to pay more money for something like goodyear eagles f1 assymetrics, michelin pilot sports 2, i wont be buying falkens again but must admit have been tempted by the vredesteins.

Bit of a change from the usual suggestions. I recently had three GT Champiros fitted on the recommendation of my mechanic.

Pretty impressed with them, quiter and grippier than the michelins I had before (though they were pretty worn). Just have to wait and see how they wear.
