Trip Computer

Featured Replies

Hey guys,

My trip computer is outputting my Miles Per Gallon ok, or so it seems. The MPG with the ø symbol is fine, seems spot on and responsive, however the other MPG setting is jumping from anywhere around 50mpg to over 150.. im assuming that this isnt normal? the jumps happen seconds appart and are constantly changing.

Any ideas whats going on?

Many thanks in advance,

2012.

There's an average MPG (the one with the symbol) which will change every 20-30 seconds or so (assuming it *has* changed) and an instant reading which will update continually.

Yours is behaving as it should

The ømpg indicates average mpg, over the last 50 miles iirc. the other is an instantaneous readout so can/will jump about every second or so.

hth

it is normal that reading just depends how much your pushing the accelerator down and what gear you are in etc. the average mpg is just the average from those numbers which makes your average mpg.

but is it normal that it would read that im making over 150mpg? surely readings like that aren't possible?

Thanks for the quick responses.

When you are going down hill at constant speed or lifting off the accelerator you can see instantaneous readings go off the scale. Seeing 150 is noramal
