VRS Sounds like a tractor!

Featured Replies

Hi, just been to london and back(370 mile round trip) about 10 miles from home the turbo stopped working.Pulled off at my exit on the motorway pulled into a carpark and the turbo doesnt work at all, just makes a funny noise and the car sounds like a tractor. Oil light also on now :mad:.Can anyone help and tell me whether i can/should drive the car home?

i wouldnt mate

could be something to do wi oil to the turbo, cold be clogged so not gettin any oil to it.

by the sounds of things, sounds like the oil pump has packed in,causing low oil pressure and the noise you are hearing is the tappets rattling, not a big job to replace the oil pump, but depends if damage has been done to other parts of the engine,eg big end shells, crank, sounds like your turbo has been starved of oil too, sorry to sound negative.

Does sound a little bit like that, however it might just be that the turbo has died and spilt oil into things.

Don't drive it anywhere as you will require an new engine for sure if you run it on low pressure.

Turbo works intermitently.

Keeps sounding like a tractor and then going quiet again .

Dump valve does not work at all still.

Any one had the same problem or similar?
