Right i have this dilema....

my car currently runs 8" wide wheels on the back and 6" wide on the front.

my back adaptors are 35mm wide and the car is dropped somewhere in the region of 80mm

my back arch is starting to suffer damage as there is next to no clearance.

my front wheels arent wide enough to look the part.

i could get smaller adaptors, maybe 25mm and hope this is less damaging to the arch as it will take the wheel in by 10mm and allows a little more clearance.

i could get another 2 8" wide wheels to beefen up the front but that would possibly mean raising the car by 10-15mm and losing its mega-lowness but look chunkier.

i cant do both options at this moment so what should i do?

Small adopters I think mate.

a wide stance is always great, where is the damage happening? U got any pictures?

Could you not mod the arch? Roll it to help?

its very hard to get a picture on my phone that shows how bad it really is but here's a couple that show how close the tyre is to the arch.

also the last one you may be able to see the paint on the edge has cracked, the edge of the arch that comes down onto the tyre is going to require to be rapainted in the future at some point.

I would say you could sort that by rolling your arches, do it first before its painted. And find someone thats done it a few times you dont want your arches looking lumping. My ibiza Cupra had the same problem, after rolling the arches it helped loads.

rolling the arches is not an option, its either bring the wheels in a bit or raise it, i dont want to raise it but may have to do that anyway when i get wider wheels. if i raise it then i shouldnt require to bring them in at all.

wide wheels = higher car.

smaller spacers = lower car.

then smaller spacers and keep low!

Why is rolling the arches not an option? If you dont mind me asking?

theres nothing to roll unless it was to flare them and i dont want to go that route as they'd need to be flared by about half an inch which is not guaranteed to fix my issue and would just look terrible.

Shame then, but i think you should just go smaller spacers the stance will still be nice, and it looks great great low.

Spacers.!

Cheaper... and will keep it low.

Smaller spacers Keithy boy ! :)

Smaller spacers. Apart from anything else, I think your present setup is illegal, becaue the top of the tread is visible from above.

well spacers seem to be the general idea, i'll leave this poll til monday and make a decision on that.

cars getting too complicated now, modding should be easy but i'm not the most decisive person:rofl:

the top of the tread falls behind the arch level so i'm confident there are no legal issues that way, the fact that theres very little clearance may not be so legal though

If they rub on the bodywork then that would be an offence anyway - "using a vehicle in a dangerous condition" would be an option

So, whats the widest wheel you could fit on the front? As im just about to buy some Team Dynamic Pro 1.2's, but was going to go for either 7 or 7.5 inch.

Would i get scrubbage when on full lock or anything?

Any help great.

I have 9 inch wide wheels all round and flaired and rolled arches, i wouldnt say they look ****.

If i was you id get smaller adapters

I'm going on the second of your photos, and the tread is the width of the flat wearing surface, not the tread pattern, for legal purposes.

As others, there may also be a legal issue of the tread is rubbing on the arch lip.

Stewart, I like the appearance of your motor.

Not wanting to be too harsh , but the shutlines where the metal meets the bumpers looks like a badly repaired bit of crash damage.

^Bumpers wernt fitting properly in that pic, sorted now :)
