Can ABS and traction control light be turned off by disconnecting ABS pump?

Featured Replies

Any ideas on how i can turn off the ABS and traction control light which has appeared on my dash? It's been code read and it says the pump is at fault, and the fault was cleared and came back on!Want to get shot of the car and wondered if the pump could be disconnected to make the light go out?All the fuses are ok and not blown, including the ones on the top of the battery.

Any ideas please:D

Umm, surely you should fix it if you're planning on selling? Otherwise that would be a false sale and the buyer could have all sorts of comeback on you. And yes, the fault light will come back on if the fault is still there. It's the cars way of telling you to fix it.

Fix the problem and then no more light

I'm going to part ex it in a garage as i can't be doing with paying out to get it fixed before trading in.Let the stealers deal with it....:D

If you disconnect it the fault will be permanent! :P

If you're feeling cheeky, clear the fault right outside the dealer, then try and get rid. See what happens.

I don't know about anyone else, but I'd feel awful if I part-exed a car in the knowledge that the ABS / Traction Control systems (safety features) were not working properly and then later learnt that that car was involved in an accident.

Just fix it.

What is the fault code exactly?

Part-exing at a dealer wouldn't worry me too much: they should know what they are buying and fix any major faults before re-selling. I wouldn't want to do a private sale though.
