I purchashed my 2004 Fabia vrs about 3 months ago from a Skoda main dealer because I had read of the great service they offer and it came with a Skoda warrenty. Recently my drivers seat started to squeek and had movement. I noticed that front bolt was loose, which I tried to tighten but was unable to as the thread was gone. I also had a vibration noise coming from the drivers door. Which I found to be the outer door rubber coming loose. So I booked it in to be looked at. I then was told that they could fix the door trim but I would not be allowed to have the car back for legal reasons until the seat was repaired. I was given a car to use. Two days later I was told it was ready and would cost £340 as they had to remove the seat carpet etc and redrill and tap the hole and could only use a special VW bolt. They then agreed to pay half. When I picked up the car up the mats and the carpet was in the same place as when I left the car. All that had been done is they had drilled out the old thread and retapped a new thread, which is what I knew it would most likely be. If I had the tools it would have taken me about 15min at the most. I know I have been ripped off. Can you help me with the best action to take.

go speak to the manager and ask to discuss the matter.

you say the carpet and mats were where you left them, but surely the carpet is secured down and would be put back the same as before they started work on it? also dont your mats secure down like most mats do? or are they not skoda mats? even so i find that mats when put back staright can move as you get out of the car, so only after 1 or 2 goes in the car can result in the mats moving back to how they were before adjusting them, as most people tend to get in and out of a car int he same way.

not doubting anything youve said, just maybe being devils advocate.

one last thing if they did retap the bolt with the carpet in placce there will probably be metal filings in the carpet itself as they are difficult to get out of the weave. have a close look and see if you can find any, might help your case
