PD100 Cupra R Splitter

Featured Replies

Hi All

Sorry if there's a really obvious answer to this somewhere on the forum, but I still haven't quite worked out what all of the bells and whistles do yet! I found an excellent guide to fitting the Cupra R splitter to a VRS...however, I have (perhaps foolishly) ordered one for my own car, which is a post-facelift Fabia Elegance PD100. How will fitting to the bumper of this differ to a VRS?

Cheers

Andrew

Its about the same to my knowledge. Someone has done this recently to a post facelift car, so hopefully they'll see this and explain how it (if at all) differed to the vRS fitting.

Its very easy... just done mine.

Pot Rivet it on.

Drill Plently of holes...

Use 4mm rivets with long heads.

You will need about 30... 15 each side.

And 2 self tapping screws for the middle.

You need to cut down the two centre projections by about an inch.

And cut the tips down by 2 inches.

Then just drill and rivet it on.

Takes about 2hours to get done perfect if you do it by your self.!

HOW LONG???

I think this can wait on my furby.

dont wait... get it done as soon as possible.

they are £21 at the moment.

so at least buy it now.

Its 2hours if you do it with screws and then realise you should use pot rivets.

But its well worth it... looks really goood.

Best mod for the money IMO.!

Don't use rivets!

If it gets damaged, it'll be a nightmare to remove.

unscrewing is defo easier than drilling out

HOW LONG???

I think this can wait on my furby.

i can fit one on a vRS in 45 mins

pot rivets?..."pop"

yeahh... i meant pop rivets...

Sure if it becomes damaged it would be harder to repair, but it does go on much better than with screws, and its much more stable.

I did it with screws originally... but it wasnt as secure and didnt fit as well as I had hoped... so took it apart and riveted it.

Is now much better..!

It prob does go onto a vRS in about 45mins... less bending and cutting than on the 1.9tdi.

Thanks guys  Bought my spitter on fleabay over a week ago, so hopefully it'll be here soon (was only coming from Kinross ffs!). My car's being lowered 30mm on Tuesday night, and ideally the splitter will be done at the same time...I'll be a happy bunny if it does. I'll get some photos up soon

Have a feeling I'll stick to rivets, since the island speedbumps aren't too vicious, esp. since 30mm isn't exactly ridiculously low. And if i have a worse impact than a speedbump/kerb scrape, then the bumper itself would likely be buggered anyway...

i'm dropped 40mm and screwed the LCR splitter in place. Not to sure about the rivet idea tho...........

like others i wouldnt be using rivets, screws are best for future removal.

i need to replace mine but lack the motivation to do so but its catches on everything!

i did mine in 45 mins on my drive using a trolley jack.

Pilot hole then self tapper.

Jobs a good un

And easy for some local scrote to nick it :(

ha ha, you said scrote.

I think ill buy it now for £21.

I used self tappers at first... didnt hold it on as tight.

then decided to use rivets... much better.

And they might take slightly longer to get off... but it is possible.

(you can drill them out, takes about 2 seconds a rivet lol)

LOOKS WELL GOOD NOW.!

Cupra R splitter is the best mod for the money.!

no one will be stealing mine, its held on with many screws and you can barely fit your foot between the road and my splitter, theres no hope of getting a screwdriver under there without putting the car up on a ramp.

Sure enough, splitter arrived today  Can't wait to get it on the car, lowering at same time so tomorrow's gonna be good. I'm doing it in a garage with a vast selection of rivets AND self-tappers, with a mechanic mate. Ve have vays...

BUT...I don't trust the local pondlife here, so rivets are looking likely. See how it goes anyway.

I'll post an update with pics asap

It will look ace... cant wait to see pics.!

You getting coilovers or springs.?
