Coolant Level over MAX when cold

Featured Replies

Have done a search for this, without finding an answer.

The coolant level on my VRS has always been maybe a cm over the max mark on the expansion bottle even when cold, on a flat surface. This is despite the car having 6 services since new at Skoda dealers, and they have not done anything about it - I have not asked then to though.

Should I reduce the level back to max by syphoning with a pipe?

Presume the liquid is toxic so to avoid getting any in my gob:rofl:

Cheers

Philip

I wouldn't worry if it's only a cm or two over. Avoid getting it in your mouth! A small amount won't do much damage if you spit it out (other than leave you with a nasty taste) but antifreeze will make you go blind if drunk!

wont hurt it if its only just over!

As above, won't hurt if just over, although if you're worried, a turkey baster is useful for removing small quantities (don't use it for cooking again after, though...)

a tampax dipped in will remove 1 cm...

what you doing with tampax in your engine bay, lol

Like the other's have stated I wouldn't worry too much about the slight over fill as the caps have a valve built in so if it was over filled too much the excess would be rectified by the valve.

Another use for a Tampax is when you have a tooth out, it helps soak up the blood!

Is there a bit of an oral-fixarion thing going on here folks - coolant-in-mouth, tampax-in-mouth, food-preparation-tools-under-bonnet...

Very intersting...
