No Remote Locking how can i fit it back on?

Featured Replies

I have had my MK1 Octavia for about 4 months now and ever since i have had the car there has been no remote locking no fobs are present from when i got the car and i only have the keys.

The central locking works on the key in the door but it looks like someone has disabled the red flashing led on the drivers front door as when i re-connect this it still dosent flash.

Is it possible to re-do the central locking so it works on a remote instead of the key and how would i over come the red led not flashing and what is this for (alarm?).

Any pointers would be great - Thanks

You've got a '98 1.6 Octy haven't you? I'd be surprised if it came with factory fit remote central locking, my dads 2000 1.9 doesn't have it.

The red flashing led is for the deadlocks, if it's not flashing then it means the deadlocks aren't engaged IIRC. I'd check to make sure all the doors are locking correctly and also showing as closed, including the boot, as it is a known issue whereby the sensors in the door goes and the door thinks its still open even when it's closed.

Thank for this info, where are these sensors located and what do they look like. i can live with central locking on the key.

The only issue that i have is that the rear back pasenger side door never locks on the central locking and always has to be locked by pushing the button down.

Could this be why i dont have a flashing led on the drivers side door? I have had a new window motor regulator fitted to this rear door but it makes no difference and still dosent lock.

Thanks again

Forgot to add (dont know if its related) When we drive the car for about 2 mins each time we get in the back drivers side rear door always loks itself  like some one has pressed something. Someone mentioned to me that it may be a safety feature on the rear doors but i dont know its a weird car concerning the electrics but reliability cant be faulted.

Just wish i could sort this out.

If i take it to a dealer will they be able to work out what it is without spending hours and hours doing diagnostics as i want it to be riht but dont want to spend more than its market value getting it all working right lol :D

Thanks - I had a look at the link you gave and it looks quite complicted.

Do i have to take the control unit out of the drivers door or just the door that wont lock or open?

I would like to have a go at this but i have noisy neighbours that will always be out asking me "whats wrong with it now"

But im determined to get it sorted, Thanks again.
