Rear axle bushes??

Featured Replies

Need some more advice guys, following my thread about going sideways, it's no way just the worn rear tyres though not helping! Handling just feels wrong and pulls left badly sometimes, and in general is not handling well.

Couple of helpful people reckon it could be worn rear axle bushes, and doing a search seems quiet likely. Just to rule these out ive had the following done, new wishbone bushes, new front arb and bushes, new droplinks, koni fsd's, rear arb, car drives fine on straight road's and steering wheel is dead centre.

I know the bushes are pretty cheap to buy but seems like a bit of a pig to fit them! Car has done 73k.

Any more advice/ help? Cheers.

A couple of questions..........

  1. How stiff is your rear ARB?
  2. Do you use the standard 19mm front ARB?
  3. Have you had it tracked at all?

The rear bushes are not too hard to fit, you only need a few tools, ramp but a fair amount of elbow grease and brute force!

Cheers mate,

Rear bar is 22mm on medium setting, front is standard bar 19mm, yes tracking was done in april when i had fsd's fitted. Is it possible for tracking to go out?

If you clober the front wheel hard enough you can knock the tracking out.... Check the dampers for any visual defaults i.e. leaks or even a break.

I'd get new rubber on the back and get the tracking lasered, if it is handling as bad as you say something must've broken or come off somewhere:eek:

Does it pull to the left under braking?

My advice is get it looked at ASAP!

No it pulls up straight under braking, yeah it's not handling right it's been slowly getting worse, it was fine when i first had the fsd's fitted but recently it's been getting worse, feels like lack of grip (tyres) front feels light and steering feels very light and very sensitive too, plus it sometimes feels like the car is crabbing to the left.

When i leave work to come home i have to go down a step hill and it's a nightmare pulls badly to the left, but when going up some road is ok? I supose it could be possible that alignment is out, sort of feels like this.

Im going to get it looked at next week and get them to check everything, then get some new tyres and alignment done.

Cheers.
