Fitted my ICE

Featured Replies

OK some of you more eagle eyed people may of noticed I have been going down a new setup lately road, I am a complete and utter noob when it comes to ice however I knew what i wanted and also more importantly what I didnt whant.

So I got to work on collecting the bits for the setup, I wont call it an install as its not!.

I needed Something with better quality then the bogo setup and something that would entertain the kids when I have them plus something that would leave me with 99% of my boot still able to be used.

So I first collected A ripspeed dv720 HU, DVD for the kids and a gadget for me and a big touch screen all looking good and not being expensive these things go for 700 pounds! But I found a Referb on the Halfords site for 140 pounds bargain! Snapped that up, next was the speakers, I went down the Infinity route as many have, the Sub is a closed 10" JBL and the Amp is a 4 channel kenwood unit the code escapes my mind, I got all of this on the cheep and with know wires or construction manuels so i asked here and got cables and stuff from my local audio place.

Its all in now and sounding awesome, the kids love the DVD, I love the added OOMPH and better quality, the differance is amazing and exactly what I whanted, however If I turn loud on its like having several fireman bounce your car out of the way so I dont.

Unfortunatly it was dark by time I finished!

Basicaly I screwed the Amp to the back seat and channeld the wires in the useal manner, the Sub is held in place with strips and a clamp but Im not sure where I want it yet.

I was dreading the power cable but I had it in in under 5 mins and I mean from Battery to boot! thro gromet behind the pollen filter and all!, then I blew a fuse in the fuse box thinking it was easy!.

Nice work

Just watch the HU. I do part time for halfords and the ****speed sorry i mean ripspeed dv720 HU's get returned with various faults on a regular basis and have to be sent away for repair. My advise is to stick the money in to a half decent HU e.g. a nice Kenwood for about £550 or evben a double din if possable.

I've heard from another employee that the Ripspeed ones are very poor.
