Grinding noise when accelerating??

Featured Replies

when accelarating hard in my 55 vrs furby i can here like a growlin/grindin noise? (cant really explain the noise lol) it happens initially when ya put ya foot down but only lasts a second or two then gos. it dosent stay on as long and your holdin it in gear. hope ya understand what i mean. any help greatly appreciated.

My Octy VRS on a 56 has a little growl?groan when pulling away from stationery. It is almost like a little rumbling felt mainly through my clutch foot. The car has done only 10k - is this 'normal'? Either that or is it a clutch problem, gearbox, loose engine mount, etc etc etc? Worth getting it checked?

@mikejay: If it's a sort of 'whooshy' noise, I think it's something to do with the EGR valve opening. The air con can make a sort of 'whiney' noise if it's working hard too, but you can tell if it's this by just turning it off!

(PS: You'll find the G key between F and H: you can't miss it! :P )

@mr_awol: Sounds either like your dual-mass flywheel is knackered or the clutch is juddering a bit. A bit of a search on here should point you in the right direction... :)

i just borrowed at fabia combi 1.4 tdi greenline

it does the same with the clutch

you can feel a kind of rumbling ind the clutch pedal

the car has only done 1700 km.. so it is brand new.. i think it is normal

I'm getting my grinding/vibrating noise sorted on Thursday. After a quick look, and a second diagnosis by my tame mechanic, turned out the nearside console bush had partially worn.

mines seams to be easing the more i drive it now? it was stood in the dealers for about 3 week so it might just need a blow out to get everythin back in order.

Asked about mine and was told it was pretty normal - also that the DMF problem is almost exclusively on TDI VRSes. Mine is a 2.0TFSi so am i safe then?
