2 air ducts

Featured Replies

? on pulling my octy apart i came accross 2 air duct things to the right of the boot as you look in, behind the net storage bit?

Does anyone know why they are there and if they were covered with .... say some sound deadning? would it matter? :orb_shusi

i think its for the car's interior ventilation.

if you block it the car will supposedly steam up more easily and get damp inside i think......

i'll look up the official expanation for you at some point.

damp

steamed up

not good

Its so you can shut your doors.

If the cabin was sealed the air pressure inside would stop you closing the door not to mention give anyone inside a banging headache if you slammed the door.

i also wondered this, so sound deadened around it anyways, only i think that when my sub is a bit loud then they rattle and flap which is a touch annoying, but a price i suppose i have to pay!

thats the one lol driverside rear bumper rattle lol lol :orb_opera lol

i went searching for the rattle

lol they are like a OE port..... damit

What Skoda says:

"Inspecting ventilation frames:

- The sealing lips -B- in the ventilation frame -A- must not be blocked and must close automatically.

Note:

This illustration shows the ventilation frames with the rear bumper installed.

2 ventilation frames (on right side only) are installed for forced ventilation.

The air guides formed by the trim panel of the luggage compartment must not be covered over if ventilation of the passenger compartment is to operate properly."

So yeah, they're for forced ventilation (door slammage!), and shouldn't be covered (I was wrong about the steamyness!). Hope that helped...

i spose you could glue them up to stop the rattle and then just have your window down a tad when you shut the door and program vag com so they do the automatic window close

Or you could stop imposing your taste in music on anyone near your car? ;)

or just put some deadening on the frame but don't interfere with the rubber flaps operation.

I'm guessing it's the surround that's rattling after all.

music only goes up loud on the open road anyway. where as when i first started driving i thought it was cool to drive through town with my music blasting, now, even though my car is much much nicer i find it a bit embarrasing, the volume now goes down when i get anywhere with people. haha
