Hi all newbie post so please be patient.

I am shortly to replace my 2000X Mercedes A140 Classic and want something a bit more quality. Top of my list is a Superb 1.9 130 Comfort. From an owner's perspective, what is good and what is bad. BTW you don't have to convince me about the credibility of the badge - I'm already totally convinced. Any comments ? Good points, bad points , economy etc ?:bttt:

Have exactly that car m8, and all I can say is its fantastic. It cruises nice, drives nice has all the toys I want, and after the first tank gave me 42mpg which I know will improve.

The only down side is that me and the wife have a bit more adjustment to make of the seat when we swap over thats all.

So far I cannont fault it, and moreover everyone who has seen or sat in it is amazed at how nice it is.

The biggest point is the rear leg room, which means no more knees in back for me:) .

My only regrets, well I,m not sure I shouldnt have tried to convince the wife that we should stretch to the Elegance with the full leather pack, and the 17" wheels, although the 16,s are probably better for wife/town driving, and to be honest look fine anyway.

Have you test driven one yet?

When you do, or if you get yours just watch people when they pass you, especially those Passat drivers!!;)

Cheers

I was offered a test drive the day the Superb was launched in this country and chose not to because I knew it was some time before I was due to change. I did accept a go in a 2.5tdi at that time and was deeply impressed by the smoothness. I will probably set up an extended test through our leasing people. I'm already quite convinced, but hopefully a day or two of a test will convince me :)

Will you need that long to convince yourself?;)

Not at all but it'll keep my finernails intact until the actual changeover :(

  • 2 weeks later...

I have the same model, 130 Comfort.

The car is fantastic.

One gripe, I would like a dash light to show me the cruise is on.

That's it.

Also be aware the rear seat doesn't fold( Fixed to give strength to the lengthened Passat chassis)

Have you decided yet?

PS my companies lease company arranged a demonstrator through Skoda demonstrators, delivered to my door and left with me for a full week

You know I've done an entirely unholy amount of research for this car. I've got to live with it for 3 years though, so I'd better get it right :)

I contribute to the lease and I had been quoted a contribution of under 40 quid a month. Based on what I know my employer adds to the pot the figures on the whatcar website aren't a million miles away. Anyway as part of my ongoing obsessive research I noticed that whatcar has chopped their Superb lease figures over the weekend - by 66 quid a month for the 1.9tdi 130 comfort. I think this may be as a result of the discounting we're beginning to see on the Superb ( that's if my two nearest dealers are anything to go by). The long and short of it is I am going to do two things tomorrow. 1) ask the nice ladies at the leasing section to requote for the Skoda Superb 1.9tdi 130 in all three trim flavours and 2) arrange a demo as you describe above. If I could have an elegance for the price I had decided I was happy to pay for a Comfort I would be well happy.

As an asides, practically notwithstanding I feel really really tempted to go with the light coloured interior - I reckon it looks gorgeous. Do any of you guys have it and is it as easy to destroy as it looks !

Thanks

No....black onyx here.

Cheers

Hmmm... either you're very forgetful, or you're prone to falling asleep with the cruise on :D

The reason I would like a light is that my last car had one (new model vectra) and I just liked it, but seriously in the Vectra you could really "feel" the cruise was on which you can't in the Superb hence I want a light!

With regards to lease values they have been dropping. 6 months ago the comfort 130 was way out my range and the classic 100 about
