Help

Was low on oil in my Fabia VRS and friend gave me some to add to the engine (wasn't in the container) like a fool  added it and then when I eventually got my hands on the container it said it was not suitable for turbo engines!!!! It wasnt a full engine oil change so what are my options??? is it a case of full oil change or will I be ok???? HELP

How much did you put in and what grade was it?

When I eventually got hold of the container, it said it was HD30 and the blurb on the back says it is only suitable for naturally aspiring diesel engines and not turbo charged. I put in around 1ltr I think

Hmmmm I wouldn't leave it in on principle. Drain it and do a change. Possibly some engine flush?

Well I have thought it aint worth causing more damage to the motor and the oil was looking a bit black anyway so it is booked in for an oil change afterall

Diesel oil goes black as soon as you start the engine, unlike oil in a petrol which goes black over time.

To be fair 1L won't kill the engine and better 1L of not quite right oil than the wrong oil. However I would also have done what you have decided and gone for an early change just to be safe. A new filter and oil change won't cost you much.

I'm guessing you should be OK.

Once it mixes with what is in the sump then it should "dilute" it.

Diesels are pretty tough.

But if you had a sump full then it would prob damage the turbo and then you'd be screwed.

Well I spoke to one garage and they quoted £30 without even asking any questions but couldn't get me booked in untill next Tues!!!!!, so called another garage and he was asking what engine sort, etc so at least he sounded like he was asking the right questions, and he has quoted £35

Well i'm in the midlands and of to Devon at the weekend so would not like to take the risk if there is a risk to the Turbo... It would cost more than an oil change in the end!!!

£35!!! for a oil change and filters etc.... I paid nearly that for 5litres of Millers XFE PD

You did mention the vRS must have VW505.01 spec oil didn't you?

Of course you did.....
