1.9 Turbo Diesel, pics

Featured Replies

just took a couple of pics of the engine that is planned for my felicia 1.9d.

The turbo sits pretty high and will be even worse when the engine is tilted forwards:confused:

might have to put a small scoop on:O

forgot to put photo in

dont worry about the turbo sticking up in the air, that'll be ok, it's the clearance between the radiator and the injetion pump you need to worry about...

feeling rough today:thumbdwn: but plan to haul the engine out today and get some measurements so i can see what im dealing with, i've got several different good radiators in the garage loft of all different sizes, hope i don't need one though. when i put the car in the garage dicovered 50 litres of diesel in it:thumbup: so tank is coming off today as well.

Really don't feel like it though..

there is room enough for the pump, whe wiring for the new pump is my main concern now

ok, what you got??

hi, the pump on the skoda is a lucas, with 2 sets of different wires going to it. (does the skoda have a factory immobiliser as standard?)

The pump on the vw td is a bosch with only one set of wires going to it.

None of the colours are the same.

Also the main loom is different on the vw, as it has a large round connector (like a bmw or vauxhall) so i don't have to undo the all connections and all the wiring can come out with the lump.

I go back to work for two weeks on thursday (I work 2wks on/2wks off) so i don't think i will have it dropped in before i go back.

ok i'll look up the connections and get back to you when i can.... don't depair, it won't be as difficult to wire up as you think

there is an immobilizer but it's attached to the injector pump stop solenoid, basically it forces the stop valve shut until the right code is received, but with a bit of wiring trickery you can defeat it;)

hi, just took note of the different wires that go to the pumps;

VW/BOSCH

WHITE AND RED

BLACK AND BROWN - go to black box on pump

YELLOW AND BLACK - go to solenoid/sensor looking thing

SKODA/LUCAS

GREEN

YELLOW

RED - go to black box on pump

YELLOW AND GREY

BLUE AND BROWN - solenoid/sensor

I sure can't sus it:confused:

Can you come up with pump/injection types rather than just makes? I've got a Citroen Xantia manual that might shed some light, but the most helpful thing it's said so far is that the Xantia was fitted with 1 of 4 pumps (2 Bosch and 2 Lucas), excluding the Lucas EPIC in the 2.1l 12v engine.

some detailed photo's of both pumps would be handy so i can work out which sensor is which...

for a start, the bosch pump has an automatic idle boost valve iirc so that is the reason it has less wires
