Funny smell

Featured Replies

My VRS periodically develops a horrible smell inside. Best way to describe it is it smells like a cat has pi55ed on the carpet. Thought that it may be the pollen filter so took that out cleaned it and sprayed with detox. Still get the smell though. Wondering it it could be something to do with the aircon? Used it a couple of days ago and the smell came back after that. If the aircon is the culprit, would a repair be covered by my used car skoda warrenty?

if it only happens when the air con is on, then thats your cause... they do require cleaning every few years. Mine smells a bit funky when its turned on... and get another kick of it when turning it off.

Doesn't smell like cat **** though thank god.

check to see if the carpets are wet , front or rear , door panel seals leak allowing water into the interior

i second the air con thing, you can get a nice air con cleaner spray from halfrauds that you set off in the car and it gets sucked through the air con system killing off the germs!!

Worth doing that, it works - I used to run with aircon on permanently, but very slightly higher fuel consumption kinda stopped me

Gearbox oil smells likes cats pee.

Turf the missus out.
