What options on a new vRS?

Featured Replies

Hi,

I am seriously tempted to get a brand spanking new vRS and wonder what options I should go for?

I currently drive an MGF VVC (lovely sports car!) but want something a lot more practical as I do lots of mountain biking and a bit of surfing and have to borrow the girlfriends Peugeot to ship my bike and board around.

I'm tempted with the black magic paint job - is that the one on all the glossys?

Is Black magic metalic paint?

Can you get roof bars for the vRS? Anyone have them? Which ones? Have you got a bike carrier for yours? Which one?

What about Xenon lights? Worth it?

I'm thinking of adding cruise control. Any good?

A sunroof - would you use it given you have aircon?

Anything else I should consider adding to the standard spec?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated all!!

Yes it is Black Magic paint, I also have Xenon's and wouldn't go back to normal lights given the choice, I also have side airbags, Cruise control, ESP and Airbag deactivation switch. I didn't opt for a sun roof as to me there was no point having that and air-con but you may disagree. I believe you can get roof bars as well.

This is my little beauty

Black magic is black magic IIRC, it's an extra. Only colours that aren't are yellow and red.

No roof bars that I'm aware of.

I'm a convert to Xenons.

Cruise control is good, apart from anything else it might help your licence!

I don't have sunroof, but then I'm not a fan - just another place to leak.

Other options... Side airbags, ESP, front airbag deactivation - it's all on the website, and depends what you want.

Hmm, that pic reminds me that I need to clean the car. Mine should look like that , but every time I think there's enought time, it starts to rain - still, the inside is nice and tidy.

You might want heated seats - you'll thank me come winter ;) Also look at headlight protectors if you can get them with Xenons as that'll save you a couple of quid if a stone gets flicked up....

Yes.

Yes.

The Fabia has those little slots in the roof rails to add roof bars, so I guess yes. No.

See above.

Yes. I wish I did...but I didn't want to wait 4 months for my car...

Good idea. Yes - very!

Again, I originally wanted this too, but would've had to wait another 4 months. I still drive around with the windows open on normal roads (they get shut for the motorway, though, and the aircon comes one!) and admit to being slightly jealous of those who have a sunroof...

Extra airbags, satnav, headlamp protectors, CD changer, subwoofer and amp, better tyres, Kylie Minogue.

Blakey - I'm also a convert from an MG, a TF 135! Although the MG is a great car (especially during sunny weather like today!) I decided to replace it. Same reasons as you, basically wanted something a bit more pratical and also a bit nicer during the winter months. Although I get 40mpg out of the MG, the possiblity of 50+ mpg from the vRS was another good reason for going for it!

Should be getting my vRS within the next few days - went for Black Magic with Xenons. Sorted out the insurance yesterday and got a nice refund!

I was going to wait and get a facelifted vRS, but after reading though the details, I decided that apart from the rear light cluster not a lot appears to be changing.
