Wall Mounting 40" LCD TV?

Featured Replies

I'm considering buying a nice flat panel and wouldn't mind wall mounting it to minimise the chances of it getting knocked over and smashed.

It apparently weighs 18.5k and has 30cm standard VESA mounting points.

Amazon.co.uk: PRO-Series Sony Bravia 37", 40", 42", 46", 50", 52" LCD / Plasma TV Wall Mount Bracket With Swivel Cantilever Arm: Electronics & Photo looks to be an option but can anyone else recommend something that tilts and pans that might be a bit cheaper?

We have our 40" Sony on a stand, and there's no problem with it even remotely looking as if it will topple. We did consider wall mounting, but then you either have to knock holes in your plaster to hide the cables, fit nasty-looking trunking, or leave the wires dangling... :(

I opted for the holes...

Was fine.

Two holes behind the TV, one became a power socket, and the other has all the cables fed through it to the corner of the room where i have a unit with DVD etc in it.

Just remember to make sure you have all the cables you need, with enough free lenth, and also plan ahead and run cables for other things to save you taking it all down again.

Children and cats make toppling far more likely!

As for the cables - we are repainting the lounge soon so I can channel some trunking into the wall without too much trouble.

I use one of these.

RD BP800 - £69.95

Holds my 47" TV Rock steady.

Have our TV mounted on the chimney breast, with wires running down the chimney.

I fitted our screen on the wall in the bedroom and ran conduit for the cables :)
