Recall

Featured Replies

Had a call from my local dealer asking me to take my car in for a recall mod.

They told me that it was to replace a cover on top of the gearbox.

Anybody else had this done?

Recall mod?

No, I've not had anything.

What year's your car?

Its a 2005 1.9TDI 130 Comfort

Can't find any threads on here, concerned that the dealer might be trying to pull a fast one

It's news to me, but I'm sure one of the tecchy guys will be along in a minute.

*sounds the Roto-horn*

Clutch cover plate. Quite an old one now.

There is a hole in the bell housing, they found that water can run into it and onto the clutch so they made a small aluminium plate that fits over it, no biggy to fit one.

Thanks for the info, I'll get it booked in

just a thought, are the dealers obliged to inform skoda superb drivers of any recalls? now that the model is being replaced with a superior model, id hate the thought of them not informing owners of potential problems.

my superb is one of the last ones, ie facelift version 2.0 comfort six speed manual, if anyone knows of a fault the dealers know about post a comment. thanks.

Recalls yes, this isn't a recall but a TSB supported modification.

If your dealer is doing his job when the car is taken to them for servicing they should routinely carry out these things.

Lots of these things are coming up at the moment as Skoda are having a bit of a purge and I think the dealers earn points towards dealership of the year for this type of thing.

Aaahh!

Thanks Lummox.

clearly I've been working too hard all day - what's a TSB supported mod? :o

if this is not an actual recall, can we insist the work is done? is it done FOC with SUK paying for something?:D

cheers

TSB - Technical Service Bulletin.

Issued to dealers to make them aware of issues the approriate repair method.

Some will say to be carried out when the car next visits the workshop others will only be carried out if the customer presents the car with the symptoms detailed in the TSB.

If it is a TSB fix then yes as far as I am aware they are FOC.

I don't imagine you can 'demand' they are carried out but you could ask the dealer to check if there are any outstanding TSB's for your chassis number.

Does it cover 6-speed boxes (2.5TDI) too and does it remove clutch judder when it rains?

Also, perhaps you could provide part number? I could fit it during my autumn service.
