Oil Light Flashing...

Featured Replies

Hi there,

I have searched the forum but have not found the awnser for my problem

I have a 54 plate fabia VRS, this morning the OIL light starting flashing (Black) stayed on for a few minutes then went off with the spanner symbol left in the display.

Is this to indicate that a service due, the oil change thingy needs resetting or is it to indicate that the pressure is low??

All previous threads on here talk about red lights but mine does not have one. If it is a reset problem, could someone tell me how to do this please.

Could you help

AzCoop

Yerp, you are in need of an Oil change service, or at least you will be soon!

Its just a service reminder. Mines never showed at my due service but 20k miles later it popped up saying OIL (few nights ago) I pooped myself and thought id cracked the sump or something silly, but read my handbook / manual and its just a oil change indicator so i reset it. I change the oil ever 5k so hardly needs changed lol :)

I've got Deja Vu... ;)

No offence but when you say "I have searched the forum", that's a bit of a lie isn't it?

I just searched the forum. Using your thread subject (Oil Light Flashing) as the search criteria and found plenty of threads suggesting it's a service indicator.

Its time for an Oil service, so its probably been about 10K since it was last done.

If you get it done at a dealer they will reset it once the service has been complete. If you get it done at a local garage the indicator can be reset by implementing the instructions in the user manual or by Vag-Com.

If its been nearly twelve months since the last service was carried out you may be better off having an Inspection Service carried out.
