Intermittent Speedo - Octavia SDI 1.9 2003

Featured Replies

Hello All,

Vehicle: Octavia SDI 1.9 2003 - 99,000 Mls

Problem: Intermittent Speedo.

After running through a couple of floods last week, the speedo has become intermittent.

Being a Taxi, my meter is driven by the speedo! - so it is causing headaches!

I thought it may have been water getting into the sensor, but not sure now.

Car is fitted with a type O2K transmission, so I think the sensor is easy to get at.

Had its clutch replaced recently. Could that be the cause?

Any comments would be appreciated .

BTW, all other instruments are ok . . . . .

Regards To All.

John

It sounds like a sensor issue, so maybe corrosion on the contacts after the soaking?

### UPDATE ###

22:00 10 Sept.

failed again, after working ok all day.

Now if I corner hard, left or right.

Fuel gauge dips to empty and "low fuel" alarm sounds!! as well as no speedo

have traced 4 used instrument "pods" so think will have to invest . .

Yeah, this is sounding like a PCB issue. Run a search for instrument panel, circuit board and synonyms on this forum for more than I know and have forgotten combined!
