Turbo intake hose?

Featured Replies

I keep noticing in various magazines that I read that a lot of modified cars have uprated forge silicone turbo intake hoses, dose this give much of a power increase or is it purely a cosmetic mod?

I think it made the turbo spin up a little easier and a bit better feel but that could just be the placebo affect :)

They're a pig to fit at the turbo end.

Yes, bit of a pig to fit. The one I bought (not forge) was a bit ropey. The bottom "nipple" broke off so I had to use 2 jubilee clips to keep it on....

Not sure I noticed much difference, maybe it spins up a tiny bit quicker but probably not!

I had the Forge one and it made no difference!

I now have the ABD one and I still notice no difference

The ABD pipe is bolted on so it's less likely to pop off IMO

Could that be because of all the other mods to your car you have done at the same time perhaps, and taken as a single item, you might think no, but together with the other mods it contributes to the performance.

I too have to ABD Racing tip, and having had it fitted just after the map, I can confirm that it does make the turbo spool up quicker, and if you compare it side by side with the OEM one, you can clearly see that it removes the restriction on the bend where it enters the turbo.

Yes you are correct as the pipe is much less restrictive

What do us old boys know?:D

See you at Marlins tomorrow morning:thumbup:

This mod can add something like 4-5 % of power. So more power you have - more gain =)) We test APR TIP on AGU with KKK04, and see the increase of power on high rpm.

I think your talking about the wrong thing here guys. Your talking about the TIP (metal pipe to comp inlet as shown), vader is asking about the intake hose (rubber thing that the DV fits onto), not the pipe.

It's obvious that the pipe works, but I doubt that the hose makes any difference atall. Considering it looks identical to the standard hose, I'd say don't bother and save ur cash for something proper
