how do you go about fitting them. i was told that the car's ECU will have a wobbler if it cannot "see" the airbags from the original seat. there is a code or something in the seat and it needs to see this ? anyone know anything about this ?

The S6 ones i have in the front of the Superb just plugged straight in (after swapping the yellow airbag plugs over as the Audi ones are slightly different to the Superb) No airbag light is on, even when i do a VCDS scan no faults are found.

There is also a (resistor?) trick you can do if you fit seats without airbag's, not done this personally but do a search and you will find the thread.

Presumably the s6 interior would avoid this airbag problem, and a local garage could fit them. It's not something I'd take on myself with my skill level, it'd be like James May in that Merc he did up like a sitting room on top gear... :D

Its a 30 min job to change the fronts over (about the same for the rears too).

Real easy job:

Disconnect battery (for airbag safety).

Slide the seat all the way forward, in the seat rail trim there are two screws under a blank cap, remove screws (they are a torx head IIRC) and lift trim out.

Slide the seat all the way back, undo the two 13mm nuts in the center of the seat at the front.

Push the seat back about 1" so the studs (that you just took the nuts off) clear the bracket.

Tilt the front of the seat up and undo all of the plugs going to the seat.

Lift seat out.

Bear in mind if you have electric sliders then you need to disconnect the battery after you have undone the front nuts.

Fitting is reversal of above.

thanks. i think the S6 interior would not help me - i currently have sports seats which i think are very similar to the S6 seats. I am finding them too hard and want a softer seat so me thinks S6 is not the way to go. However the concept shoudl be the same if i go for SE seats or even the recarro aftermarket ones - yes they are expensive but i woudl loose about 6k on my car in 6 months if i sell it !!!

Might be worth an advert on an audi site/forum to see if anyone with an SE fancies swapping for the sports seats you've got, or even a word with a friendly dealer. They might just bend over backwards if they think you'll be a repeat customer.

I'm wanting softer seats in the octavia as well. On longer journeys it's a big change from the armchair like comfort in the old superb. I have got seat covers and have toyed with the idea of cushion type things on the seat itself (I think you can get wedge type things), but now my tail-bone is better I'm not in so much discomfort on my back, it's my legs which get uncomfortable due to the narrowness of the seat part.
