front mounted intercooler?

Featured Replies

Ive had a quick search but havent found an answer but if ive missed it im sure someone will tell me.

I was wondering if something like an audi s3 runs a front mounted intercooler and would it fit on the oct vrs mk1?

I recently read that people who have the latest mk5 golf and seat leon are using the front mounted intercooler off the new s3 as its better than the standard one and it was only £200 ish plus vat which is alot cheaper than say the forge ones.

old S3 has twin side mount intercoolers the same as you current single one, mk5 is different so new S3 one might not fit and if it does chances are it won't be direct bolt on.

there are cheaper options such as generic intercoolers but they will require more pipe work and possibly brackets etc making up where a forge/proalloy etc will just bolt on.

but the octava specific ones are quite pricey but its a fairly small market compared with generic ones :)

I intend to complete my Generic type one for about £200. This will involve a lot of cutting and re-beading of pipe and as Bengie say i will need to make up brackets.

Intercoolers are relatively cheap but the pipe work is a pain to sort out.
