Hi Everyone,

I've found this great website today and I am amazed at the huge amount of Skoda related info that can be found on Briskoda.

Yesterday I've purchased Octavia 1.9 TDi 2002 (77k miles) Elegance hatchback in Stone Grey from the Trader for just under £3k.

Previously I had '98 SLX Red for a while, but I'm newbie

to all tech stuff.

My new car seems to be fine apart from dead coolant temp gauge, but I found lads of tips for this one.

The guy who was selling the car to me said that this model hasn't got the cam belt but chain instead, when I asked him about it.

Can anyone confirm if there is a chain or cam belt please?

Would I be able to get this kind of information if I call Skoda Service?

Thanks.

welcome along, i would suggest posting in the octavia section for a quicker response

Hello and welcome to Briskoda! This engine has a belt.

Welcome :)

Hi

Yes it has a belt on it , no chin

Also I would suggest looking at the coolant temp sensor for the other problem

Your engine has a cambelt and I'd suggest if it hasn't been done already you should make arrangements to get it done.

Welcome to the forum. You'll find lots of helpful people in the Octavia section who can help with questions.
