I went mod crazy

Featured Replies

My 2.0 TFSI RS is coming up on 5 months old soon. The first thing i did was remapp it. The difference was night and day so i thought i might leave it at that, it was quick enough.

But of course no, thanks to this website it's costing me a fortune:P. I then bought a full Milltek system. Then Steve(Makefish) was selling his mods and i bought 2 items, the autotech pump internals and a Nuespeed intercooler hose. Mind you i got those quite cheap. Then i ordered a Evom's air intake a few days ago. So thinking i was quite content i then go and order a Forge twintercooler:)....

To be honest i have always been a little sceptical of air intakes and exhausts etc but what the hell, i will see what all the fuss is about and i suppose it will proove to myself whether these mods really work or not. Once fitted my tuner will custom map my car to suit the mods and should tell all:thumbup:

So does anyone think i'm mad? Will all this make my car fast???:o

Erm, No and Oooh Yes! :P

The fuel pump makes a huge difference imo, not quite as much as the remap but enough for you to notice.

What you will notice (especially if you upgrade to an equivalent REVO StageII+ which I recomend with the level of mods you are going for) is a 'cleaner' top end pull through the rev range, it's difficult to to quantify but to put it in perspective I pulled along side Chris in his Yellow one (EVOMs, Milltek Catback, Fuel Pump & Stage I REVO) and there was a noticable difference in acceleration.

Enjoy your new found 'mod' bug and yup, this forum can skint you quite easily :o:D

I nearly forgot, is it worth throwing in a set of iridium spark plugs after all that??:D

It certainly wont hurt and for the cost I'd do it but it's questionable if there is any real benefit of doing so! :o

i was actually going to ask the other day how much these sparks are? and what the standard ones cost.

Iirc around £35 from JKM. :)

In for a penny, in for a pound...

for all four or each?

For all four................................but Paul you DONT need them, they are only really needed for StageII cars! You'd be wasting your money if you bought them for yours in fact I have my doubts as to whether they have any benefit on modified TFSI's tbh.

i want to get them changed on my car as i dont like the 40k idea from skoda. i was looking at getting a set of TGK or whatever from halfrauds at one stage cooler.

Maybe they might not melt or burn out as easy :P

....oh you naughty boy!!! I'm in the same boat as Micky_32.... but holding out before i go mental on the mods with my 2008 TFSI. The simple remap sounds awesome the way people talk about it - but i'm still lovin the car as standard to be honest!

Keep up the good work on the forum chaps and dream up more mods for me to save for.... lol

I have a virtually brand new set of OEM plugs that I'll pop in the car for tomorrow then ;)

Edit: Have also found a set of NGK plugs too which had around 8k's worth of use on the old car. Didn't use them on this one as I wanted 'new' stuff but they are like new!

Really dont blame you! Id be doing the same to mine - if I hadn't just come off company car and know that my insurance is sky high already! :(

Going to wait a year then get quotes as if I had the mods already.

Enjoy it!

steve the NGK ones were they the ones you bought one grade cooler??

What's the story with the clutches on stage2 cars? Steve did you ever get any slip?

Despite the quite high levels of torque I've suffered no issues at all with the clutch. The only problem was with that of the gearbox but that is an issue that's happened with other non modified cars and was replaced under warranty.

As for the plugs Paul, yes it's the NGK ones that are one range cooler.

cheers for the OEM plugs steve, got a mechanic across the road gonna see if he can fit them later so i have someone to blame if it goes pete tong ;)
